The Thermo Scientific MaxQ 8000 is an orbital shaker incubator — a piece of lab equipment that combines controlled shaking and temperature control in one unit. It’s designed for biological and biochemical workflows where maintaining both a constant temperature and agitation are important, such as:
- Cell culture (bacteria, yeast, insect or mammalian cells)
- Fermentation
- Protein expression
- Hybridization and DNA work
- Solubility studies and other mixing tasks
How It Works
- Orbital shaking: The platform inside moves in a circular (orbital) motion to mix or agitate samples evenly.
- Temperature control: It incubates samples at controlled temperatures — typically from above ambient up to ~60 °C, and in refrigerated models also below ambient — so you can grow cultures or perform temperature-sensitive reactions.
- Stackability: Units can be stacked 2–3 high to multiply capacity without using more floor space.
