The Bergmann PS1400 is an intelligent compaction station, also known as a mini compactor, offering an alternative to traditional baling presses. Instead of compressing recyclable materials into bales, the PS1400-E compacts recyclables directly into a large plastic bag (approximately 1,400 liters) placed on a pallet. This system is ideal for environments with a continuous flow of recyclable material, such as distribution centers, supermarkets, or production facilities dealing with large volumes of packaging waste.

As the machine utilizes a rotating compaction roller instead of an up-and-down compaction plate, the PS1400-E can process continuous streams of recyclables without having to pause for separate press cycles. You simply throw cardboard, plastic film, residual waste or other materials into the machine’s hopper. A powerful steel roller equipped with cutters grabs the material, shreds it, and compresses it down into the bag below.

Continuous loading is possible – the feed opening can remain open while the roller turns, ensuring there is no waiting time. This continuous loading capability significantly increases processing speed compared to, for example, a baler (where you need to wait for the press cycle to finish and the door to reopen each time). The PS1400 is user-friendly: it features a simple start/stop button or can even operate fully automatically (on some models it starts when recyclable material is detected). Since recyclable material is neatly compacted into a sturdy PE bag, you are left with a compact “block” of recyclables on a pallet at the end. This package can be easily sealed and moved with a pallet truck or forklift. A major benefit is that the packed waste bales are clean and leak-proof, which allows you to transport them together with goods without risk of contamination. This is especially convenient in supermarkets or production facilities: the compacted waste bags can be sent back on delivery trucks, helping to avoid empty return trips.

With the PS1400, you not only save storage space (up to 80% reduced waste volume is achievable, depending on the material), but also labor time. Staff need to make fewer trips to the waste container, and do not have to strap or lift bales—the waste bag is only replaced when it is full, which takes much longer. The machine is safe (equipped with emergency stop and secured access) and, thanks to its electric drive, operates relatively quietly. Maintenance is minimal: the rotating compaction roller is self-cleaning and the hydraulic system is robustly engineered. In summary, the PS1400-E provides a modern, efficient way to compact recyclables directly at the source into manageable packages, delivering significant logistic and cost advantages.
