HEID Stefan Mayer GmbH

The original company, Hans Heid AG, was founded in 1950 by Mr. Hans Heid in Basel, initially as a sole proprietorship and trading company for woodworking machinery. Rapid growth was ensured by the acquisition of exclusive dealerships for well-known German and Italian woodworking machinery manufacturers, together with the then booming economic climate. This was complemented by a considerable number of inventions, most of which were patented. These inventions, designed specifically for the woodworking sector, further increased the company's reputation and laid the foundation for later success. Of particular note is the GNOM series, developed for dowel production, including machines for cutting to length and grooving dowels.

The continuous development of special machinery, particularly for the furniture industry, required a move to larger premises in Münchenstein/Basel.

This relocation took place in 1969, at which time the conversion to a public limited company—Hans Heid AG—was completed. Additionally, a planning office and a customer service center with a spare parts warehouse were established. In 1971, Kurt Mayer was appointed managing director and, in 1974, was also elected chairman of the board.

At that time, international export business was booming; for example, turnkey kitchen furniture factories were planned and delivered to Moscow, with further projects following in Ghana, Greece, and Egypt.

The available space in the Dreispitz area of Münchenstein quickly became insufficient as the company outgrew its premises. Therefore, in 1974, the new facility in Tenniken/Basel-Land was moved into, featuring 500 m² of office space, 500 m² of exhibition space, and a 1,600 m² production hall.

The intention was to start producing their own woodworking machines there, but due to a lack of qualified personnel, this was never realized. Instead, used machines and systems of all makes were refurbished, optimized, and rebuilt to customer specifications.

To mark the 50th anniversary in 2000, Heid-Tech GmbH was founded as a sister company to Hans Heid AG, with Mr. Stefan Mayer as managing director. He has been active in this sector since 1984, with Europe-wide contacts and considerable experience in production technology and its optimization. Heid-Tech GmbH simultaneously took over the customer base and all operational business from Hans Heid AG. Hans Heid AG withdrew completely from this area and continued as an investment company until December 2010.

In 2002, the company relocated from Tenniken to new premises in Liestal/Basel, offering shorter connections to Germany and France.

Since 2001, as another solid business segment, the distribution of self-developed and manufactured discharge and dedusting units has been added. These are used in throughfeed systems of various makes and manufacturers. Retrofitting existing systems is also possible.

In May 2011, Heid-Tech GmbH remained in Liestal (Basel-Land) but moved to new premises, from Gitterlistrasse 8 to Industriestrasse 7. The reason for this move was the increasingly cramped space situation.

In July 2021, Mr. Stefan Mayer established the German company HEID Stefan Mayer GmbH in Germany, registered at the District Court of Freiburg im Breisgau. The rationale for this was the steadily increasing share of orders from the EU (e.g., from Germany, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, etc.).
